Overview

Design and manufacture of manual, powered and all-terrain wheelchairs, with seating fitted to each user.

A wheelchair only works if it fits the person and the place where it is used. We design and configure wheelchairs around the user’s body, posture and daily activities and the terrain they travel, from hospital corridors to unpaved rural roads.

Applications

Our wheelchairs are designed for individual users, hospitals and rehabilitation centers, NGOs and government mobility programs. Our approach follows the person-centred steps of the WHO Wheelchair Provision Guidelines: assessment, prescription, fitting, user training, and follow-up and maintenance.

Configuration options

Seat width, depth and height; back support and postural accessories; pressure-relief cushions; user weight capacity; folding or rigid frames; wheel and tire options for rough terrain; and push-rim, attendant or joystick controls. Powered wheelchairs are configured for range, charging arrangements and the gradients and surfaces of the user’s environment.

Quality and inspection

Frames, welds and assemblies are inspected and every wheelchair is checked for dimensions, brakes, wheel alignment and, for powered models, controls and electrical safety before delivery. Designs are developed with reference to the ISO 7176 wheelchair test methods for stability, strength and power systems, and ISO 16840 for seating.

Each delivery is supplied with user and maintenance instructions, and spare parts are available to keep wheelchairs in safe, daily use.

Yes. Seat dimensions, back support, cushions and postural accessories are configured from the user’s measurements and the clinician’s or therapist’s prescription.
